Verizon Disability Discount

There is a program called Lifeline where you can get huge discounts on your phone bill.

I signed up for my grandfather and he is now paying less than $10.00 a month.

You can print the form on-line or call for assistance (1-800-974-6006). The customer service is fantastic and will work with you to get you the best deal possible.

I believe this is for Medicaid customers only but not sure.

Good Luck! : )

I was signed up for this phone in front of the Human Services Department in Sonoma County. You do not have to give money or prove anything. You sign an affidavit that you earn less than..... Which is very little. If you are poor then you can get it. They do check up on your situation every so often.

LifeLine is nor just for disabled.
by: Anonymous

The LifeLine program is a Federal program offering up to $13.50 off of HOME phone service or a cellular phone for free through Assurance Wireless or SafeLink. You must qualify by either receiving Medicaid Food Stamps or qualify for low incom through proof of income and be under the limits. Most cell phones are exempt from the program i.e. Verizon Wireless, AT&T Wireless, etc.

LifeLine for the disabled
by: Anonymous

I receive a discount from Verizon known as the Life Line program. The discount is applicable to disabled individuals who meet income guidelines.
The program is government subsidized and not a Verizon or other utility program. I pay less than $16/mo for my phone. Life Line doesn't pay for "extras" such as internet, caller ID that aren't considered a life saving expense. I'm all for saving wherever possible given my income.

Not all companies who offer telephone service participate in the program. Check first with your telephone provider to see if they do.

Call your telephone company or governemnet agency that oversees the utility comapnies in your state. The agency phone number is usually listed on your statement.

I'm a Verizon customer with disabilities. So I check on their website about this program. They actually have 2 programs.

Lifeline provides a monthly discount to qualified individuals. Eligibility requirements and discounts vary by state.

Link Up assists qualified low-income customers pay the one-time activation fee for Lifeline service. Restrictions apply.

No fees to sign up. But you have to be in 1 of 6 states. Unfortunately not my, South Carolina.
