Blindness / Vacations

Are there any discounts or help for families of a parent that was just diagnosed as legally blind and continuing to lose their eyesight? ie., inexpensive family vacations before I lose all of my eyesight. I can no longer drive and I currently have 3 kids (and a husband). We have wanted to take the kids on a family vacation for the past several years, but we didn't have it in the budget. Now that I have lost most of my vision, I would love to take them somewhere to have that as a great memory before I lose all my eyesight.

Suggestions for Blindness & vacations
by: Victoria Mathis

A few years ago, I was traveling on Amtrac and I noticed a family like yours. The Mother was blind Dad had sight and they had 4 small children who all needed something at the same moment.
They were on a trip out west and going to make several overnight stops at our National Parks. This family had reservations at the lodges and had called ahead for the reservations and to set up a day with a Park Ranger at each park.
I know the National Park pass will gain you and your group free access to the park but you'll want to check prices for overnight stays.
Amtrac does have special accommodation for Disabled persons and for families. I suggests you you call with your dates at hand to make sure what offerings are being made for the time you need.
