Use Space Invaders as on online computer game for special needs children

by Anna
(The Special Life)

Quite by accident, we discovered that our 7 year old with cerebral palsy can play Space Invaders arcade game on a computer. All you need to do to play the game is hit the spacebar - a wonderful, easy target for a kid with motor control problems.

You could of course use a switch, which will make it even easier, but if there is enough hand control, the standard version with a spacebar will do. And, it also is great incentive to learn to teach fine motor skills as well as hand - eye co-ordination.

For kids with adhd or autism, it can help to get your child to focus their attention and sit still. Kids with special needs love Space Invaders - along with everybody else!

Try it yourself and see.
