PUTTING POOP ON THE WALLS and Autism Symptoms

IS PUTTING POOP ON THE WALL A PART OF AUTISM?
YES OR NO

Editor's Note:
This isn't really a yes / no answer, unfortunately.

Luckily it is not always a behavior exhibited by people with autism. But there is a relatively small group of people, especially children, that are drawn to interacting with their feces.

I'm not aware of research giving a definite reason for why this behaviour occurs, or how to effectively stop it.

This topic has been discussed elsewhere on this site: http://www.thespeciallife.com/poop-fecal-smearing-and-autism.html.

For the most part, the way that people have been dealing with it is to limit access by using clothing to make the genital area less accessible.

Back Zipper pajama onesies are the easiest and cheapest option, and works for most people.

But it may not work for the truly determined. Some people use this in conjunction with duct tape or pins and that helps.

Others have even tried rubber wet suits!

This is not an easy situation to deal with. I wish you luck.

Or, if you just need to let off steam, you can do that too, here.
