Looking for Customized Picture Communication Cards that are Ready to Use?
This is Quite Possibly The Best Solution To One Of The Biggest Challenges We Face
Picture communication cards may be the single best solution if you have a child with learning or communication challenges. Without them, you know how difficult it can be to do even the simplest things. Mealtimes are stressful. Getting our children dressed is a major undertaking. And simply keeping them entertained with the movie or book they want can be a problem.
As parent of a child with cerebral palsy, I know exactly what you're going through. I‘ve been looking for special need products and solutions that help my child communicate for years. And when I gave up trying to find it, I came up with the solution myself — my own customized picture communication cards. The change in my household has been absolutely amazing.
Before I created my customized picture communication cards, I tried the commercial PEC symbol cards with generic pictures or simple drawings on them. There are times where picture communication cards based on line drawings work well.
However, when it comes to providing choices of real items in the house, I can tell you from painful experience that they don't work very well at all. In fact, they sometimes made matters worse, because I couldn't give him exactly what he saw.
My picture communication cards are different. They're made with your photos -- the actual foods your special needs child or adult eats, the movies he or she likes to watch, his or her books and toys, and the actual clothing in his or her closet, and even the people and places he personally knows. Now, all Giancarlo has to do is point to the picture of what he wants, and he gets it - because we "get it".
No more guessing.
What used to take a half hour of frustrating trial and error takes seconds. Everyone in the family is calmer. Giancarlo is truly happier. And I have more time to play with both my children and do other things too.
