People just don't know how to interact with the disabled.
I am a 32 year old stroke survivor who can barely move and can't talk.
The dental office I go to apparently thinks this means I am a child again even though my chart clearly states my age and my mother/ caregiver has told them that fortunately my "mind" wasn't affected " I was all there".
Every time I go there they insist on talking to me like a child. One time the hygenist asked me" if I needed my mommy" another time they told my mother/ caregiver that not every dentist takes " children like yours".
I understand I need to see a specialist but do they have to use those words.
So i wrote a letter explaining my situation and tried to show it to the hygenist but was ignored, they don't have an email to send it to.
The dentist doesn't even talk directly to me. She asks my mother/ caregiver how I'm feeling , that doesn't even make sense.
I don't know what's wrong with these people. I may be in a wheelchair but I still deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.
